Austin Shakespeare will bring the romance, comedy and dramatic clashes of The Merchant of Venice to the Beverly S. Sheffield Zilker Hillside Theater in May.
Produced in collaboration with the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department for the 35th year, Shakespeare’s famous play will be performed under the stars from May 9 to May 26 on Thursdays to Sundays at 8 p.m., with a preview performance on Wednesday, May 8.
The audience is encouraged to bring blankets, low chairs, and a picnic to enjoy their evening on the grassy hillside. Some chairs are available. The City of Austin is committed to compliance with the American with Disabilities Act. Zilker Hillside Theater is accessible to all audience members. Alcohol and glass containers are prohibited in all City of Austin parks.
KUTX Live at Mueller

Enjoy free live music with the family-friendly Jarbear kicking off the show for kids at 7 pm. The Octopus Project for adults happens at 8 pm.
Shakespeare in the Park: Macbeth

The City of Austin, in coordination with Austin Shakespeare, presents William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Join us for our 32nd year of Free Shakespeare in Zilker Park for a military-themed version of Shakespeare’s supernatural story of ambition gone awry.

Umlauf Family Day

Where: Umlauf Sculpture Garden, 605 Robert E. Lee Road
Family Days offer special, hands-on programs designed for families with children, 4-10 years old. Families have the opportunity to explore the Umlauf while engaging in creative activities. Listen to stories, do yoga in the garden, watch sculpture demos, enjoy live music and more. FREE!

The Austin Shakespeare company will premier its 30th season of ‘Free Shakespeare In The Park’ tonight with Shakespeare’s romantic comedy ‘As You Like It.’
I’d recommend packing a picnic and a blanket/chairs to enjoy the play.

This is some of the best weather we’ll have all year. It would be a crime not to spend some time enjoying it, and some Shakespeare at Zilker Hillside Theatre sounds like a perfect excuse to head outdoors. This year Austin Shakespeare is doing a production of A Winter’s Tale, so it should be pretty entertaining.
It’s a great free show and something the whole family will enjoy. Don’t forget to bring chairs or blankets to sit on, and plastic coolers or picnic baskets are also a good idea. If you forget food or drinks, you can purchase concessions on site.

It’s time for some free Shakespeare in the park! It’s been really pleasant, which makes for the perfect weather to catch this outdoor treat.
This weekend and next weekend the Something for Nothing Theater will be putting on one of Shakespeare’s earliest works, The Comedy of Errors. This comedy follows the story of two sets of twins separated at birth and reunited through happenstance.
This show will be a thrill for all audiences and give you a chance to experience the talent of Shakespeare in a fun outdoor setting.
