At the October event, we will provide a Halloween background and a Monthly Commemorative background. The Halloween background works best with babies who are 0-18 months old, and the Monthly Commemorative background has signs for babies 0-12 months old. You can also bring your baby in a Halloween costume or your favorite clothes to fit the backgrounds, and share your imagination with us. This is going to be awesome!

Creepy scarecrows, ghost stories and all things scary will be featured at this annual all-ages Haunted Halloween Trails festival. This year’s event will feature three separate spooky trails each night — one for young children (amusing, rated G), another for those who want spooky surprises (rated PG) and a scary, scary trail for the adventurous (frights galore, rated PG-13). Spook lights, ghoulish stories, pumpkins, food, drinks and souvenirs promise to add to the fun. Palm readers (available for an extra fee) will be on site all nights to give visitors a peek into their past or future, along with other fun activities.

Trunk or Treat is a new spin on Trick or Treating where local businesses and organizations bring a vehicle, decorate its trunk/tailgate and pass out candy as kids “Trunk or Treat” from car to car. Trunk or treating allows kids to have all the trick or treating fun without crossing streets or worrying about traffic. It’s also a great accessibility benefit for those individuals with various disabilities or limitations. Trick or Treat from car to car, trunk to trunk. Costumes encouraged. The UMLAUF Sculpture Garden & Museum hosts Last Straw Fest, a free event for all ages! Activities will include pumpkin carving with “Professor Pumpkin,” with an optional contest judged by “We Are Austin” hosts Taylor Ellison and Jordan Steele; face painting, storytelling, family yoga, balloon art demos and other seasonal crafts and games; music from DJ Gatsby; and opportunities to meet and adopt cats, with fees waived, from the Austin Animal Center. Then, after storytime, join the costume parade around the store, which will start on the second floor and end at the front of the store where you’ll get your treat – a free book to bring home!
