If this is your first week reading the blog, you’re most likely assuming that I have a drinking problem, or that my life progresses from one drinking activity to the next.
I promise that’s not the case, it’s just coincidental that two really solid drinking ‘holidays’ happen to fall in the same week. I think it’s human nature to enjoy a good glass of wine and/or a margarita on occasion, and I can’t be the only one who enjoys these simple pleasures.
This Saturday is National Margarita Day (don’t worry, that morning we’ll post a list of our favorite places to grab a margarita to help you celebrate). Jack Allen’s is turning this festive day into an entire week of celebration, as we all should. Each day they’re having a unique margarita in addition to their normal house offerings for some added fun.
Here’s the line-up:
Thursday: Tom’s Favorite (Herradura Silver, Cointreau and fresh lime)
Friday: Mango-Habanero Rita
Saturday: Blood Orange Rita and The Classic
As a Jack Allen’s regular, I suggested hitting them up at happy hour when you can score half-price appetizers. I can make a meal out of their appetizers alone.
Bottoms up y’all!
Monday through Friday 3-7pm
When: Today, Feb. 20th – Saturday
Jack Allen’s Kitchen (both locations)
7720 Highway 71 West Austin, Texas 78735

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow and if you are looking for something fun to do with your girlfriends or your special someone this is by far one of the most fun and carefree ways to tap into your creative side.
The best part is that it is BYOB and snacks! You can really make a night out of it and it’s the perfect way to spice up a normal happy hour.
The class is relaxed and mainly intended for you to have a good time. If this isn’t your cup of tea, they have different classes every night including, Paint Your Pet (which is a popular one), Fire In the Sky, Congress Bridge, and other huge varieties.
Time: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

There is nothing like a good happy hour that will get me excited about hump day. I can always tell that I found a winner when I check a place out and find myself looking for any excuse to go back.
El Alma’s happy hour absolutely kills it. They have $2 Lone Star, $3 sangria, $4 frozen or rocks house rita’s and $5 Margarita Chilanga’s plus ½ off appetizers. When it comes to sangria, I’m definitely picky, but their’s was great. It was fruity, fresh, and the perfect cocktail to enjoy while sitting on the patio. Their appetizer’s were also great. The queso and tostadas really hit the spot and my friend and I left stuffed. Our total was under 20 bucks, and you can’t beat that!
On top of a great happy hour, the atmosphere is fantastic. If you are sitting downstairs you’ll have a great view of the Long Center and upstairs they have a shaded patio that almost has a tree house feel to it.
I have heard great things about their brunch which I will be back for soon.
