Holi, the festival of colors, is an Indian festival that celebrates the coming of spring. People throw colored powder (“rang”) on each other and dance to songs; it makes for a fun time and a lot of amazing pictures. This festival is the inspiration behind many other popular events like the Color Run.
This year, the theme of our Holi celebration, “Breaking Barriers Through Color”, intends to bridge any divisions we experience or feel. Despite superficial differences in race, religion, or ethnicity, once we are covered in color we all look identical, representing how we are all fundamentally connected and the same within.
Holi is run by UT Hindu Students Association (awarded UT’s Most Outstanding Organization). Historically, this event attracts over 8,000 attendees at this event through the distribution of free biodegradable color, live music, interactive activities, and educational booths. This event is family-friendly and open to individuals of all ages!
