Escape to Bastrop, an original Texas town with a fresh approach to life, to enjoy a true Lost Pines Christmas!
Celebrate the holiday season in Historic Downtown Bastrop. From an old-fashioned Main Street Christmas to a dazzling night-time holiday parade, food and wine events, and activities for the entire family, you’ll love how Bastrop shares the season during this month-long holiday event. Downtown merchants offer extended shopping hours throughout the holiday season.
Kick off the holiday season at a Lighting Party on Nov. 24. Come out to Fisherman’s Park at dusk to visit Santa, enjoy hot cocoa and enjoy the holiday classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” on the outdoor big screen.
Or have the ultimate winter fun at Lost Pines Christmas Snow Day on Dec. 8. With snow slides and a play area, friends and families can enjoy some holiday cheer and a few snowball fights (even in Central Texas). Snow Day will feature food and children’s activities – such as face painting and balloon animals.
Families will also enjoy the famous Lost Pines Christmas Lighted Christmas Parade featuring more than 100 fanciful floats and local participants lighting up Main Street in this joyful tradition.

WHERE TO GIVE
Ballet Austin’s purpose is to create, nurture and share the joy of dance through classically innovative arts. But there’s so much more to what they do. Their community and education programs serve over 50,000 people each year. The Nutcracker School Shows program is one of these initiatives and brings 13,000 Central Texas elementary students to The Nutcracker each year. Its mission is to provide all children, regardless of financial capacity, the opportunity to see a live dance performance at a minimal cost. Teachers are provided with resources such as The Nutcracker Footnotes, a production-specific performance guide with pre- and post-performance details, activities and discussion points.
Help to share the joy of dance with our community. Learn more about Ballet Austin’s Community and Education programs and other ways to give.
A family four-pack of hair cuts at Birds Barbershop, any location, valued at $176 and a spot in a Gingerbread Workshop at Foodie Kids, winner’s choice of date unless the class is full, valued at $45.

‘Tis the season for tree lightings and the Domain is having a full day of fun and festivities while hosting their annual Big Tree Lighting this Saturday.
Head up to the Domain to get into the holiday spirit and for a head start on this year’s shopping. They’ll have holiday activities including face painting, balloon twisting, caricature drawings, holiday crafts, and of course photos with Santa. You’re never too old to sit on Santa’s lap in my opinion.
Once the sun goes down the lighting ceremony will get underway. They’ll have recording artist Phil Vassar along with a youth choir singing songs of the season. After the lighting of the massive 40 foot tree, there will also be a firework show!
The weather is supposed to cool down a bit this weekend, just in time for this fun event. All these festivities will surely have you singing Christmas carols all the way home!
While you’re shopping, stop by Macy’s and write a letter to Santa and they’ll donate $1.00 for every letter received through Christmas Eve! http://wish.org/content/macys-believe-campaign
