August. Constant humidity sweater and the feeling that you’ll never feel a chill on your skin ever again. Shed the still-in-the-middle-of-summer woes with free comedy and music courtesy of Austin’s art underground. Discover your new favorite Austin band or, hey, come celebrate ones already sitting at the top of your list.

Cumbia Nuevowavers Como Las Movies headline this month’s bill of diverse sounds with rock-of-all-flavors outfit Jeremiah Jackson. Nick Saverino, one of Austin’s premier comics, starts off the night to replace your endless sweat with some joke-induced tears. Your face will still be wet.

Entry is free and all ages are welcome. A variety of Independence beer will be available for purchase to guests 21+. Food will be available for purchase at the taproom’s onsite food truck Crossroads: Farm to Truck.

DISCLAIMER: Comics often tell jokes rife with adult humor. Viewer discretion is advised

Celebrate the end of Lent and support a great cause with some of the strongest beers around at Austin’s first Strong Beer Fest. In accordance with German tradition, in order to qualify each beer must be over 7.5% ABV.

A $20 donation buys you (10x) 6oz pours of any beers at the festival.

The festival will feature strong beers from:

        – Schneider Weisse – Aventinus (8.2% ABV Weizenbock) / Aventinus Eisbock (12% ABV Weizen Eisbock)
        – Indy Brewing – brand new Double IPA (8.5% ABV Double IPA) / Brain Bread (8.5% ABV Barrel-aged Biere de Garde)

We’ll also have traditional strength challenges—such as a carnival high striker, keg lifting and stein hoisting—a German oompah band and some AcroYoga performers.

Proceeds will benefit Austin non-profit BONESHAKER PROJECT ( whose mission is to inspire kids and families to lead healthy, active lifestyles.

Join us for a great time and to support this great cause.

‘Tis officially the calm before the SX storm. While wise advice would be to take it easy tonight, and rest up for all that’s in store… that wouldn’t make for a very exciting blog post. What the heck, life is short, let’s start the weeklong party now.

Independence Brewing is going to be on Rainey Street tonight hosting a ‘White Rabbit Pub Crawl.’ You’re not required to drink White Rabbit but if you’re partaking in the pub crawl they encourage you to give it a try.

Check in at Craft Pride and grab your crawl card, and if you get your card stamped at three of the four locations, you’ll be rewarded with a swanky White Rabbit glass.

        Bottoms Up!
