Faith in Action Georgetown offers services to help older adults in maintaining and improving their quality of life. With assistance of volunteers, clients can maximize their ability to meet their own needs and to continue to live independently. We currently offer transportation, handyman services, errands, care calling and visits, information and referrals, and a medical equipment closet.
Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Lucy Dacus, Kyle Craft, U.S. Girls, and Red Yarn will perform live for Austin kids and families at the 6th annual MyMusicRx + YOU WHO! Rock Show for Kids at the FADER FORT on Thursday March 15.
The YOU WHO! Rock Show for Kids is a family friendly, morning concert that benefits MyMusicRx, the flagship program of the Children’s Cancer Association (CCA). MyMusicRx bedside and online music medicine programs deliver the healing power of music to hospitalized kids across the country.
Since 2014, YOU WHO! shows have cultivated a devoted following of more than 2,500 influential Austin moms, dads, and kids, treating them to up-close performances from artists like Shakey Graves, Sara Watkins, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, The Zombies, Best Coast, Heartless “Bathtubs”, Tacocat, Aloe Blacc, and Les Claypool. YOU WHO! has raised nearly $80,000 to fuel MyMusicRx programs.
MyMusicRx has served more than 180,000 children along with their families, caregivers, and medical professionals across the country including through a local in-hospital concert partnership with Dell Children’s Medical Center. In 2018, MyMusicRx will launch its bedside service at St. David’s Children’s Hospital. To ensure long-term, sustainable program growth, CCA has assembled a local advisory board comprised of community members and executives from leading Austin businesses and firms. Proceeds from ticket sales will support MyMusicRx’s local programs.
Get out and enjoy one last hurrah of Spring Break / SXSW 2018 on Saturday, March 17! Rock + Read at The Domain is a live music and book fest where both kids and adults will enjoy a great lineup of musicians as well as local children’s book authors, who will be reading from their books in between music sets. Music lovers looking for the next concert, take note: Sound On Sound Fest is coming! This three-day festival will take over the grounds of the Sherwood Forest Faire, a Renaissance landscape set just forty miles outside of Austin in McDade, on November 4-6, 2016.
Not just a music festival, SOS Fest aims to transform the typical festival experience for fans, hyper-focusing on stellar bookings of indie, punk, hip hop, metal, dance music, comedy, and live panel discussions.
Children ages 10 and under get in for free with adults holding single day, three-day, and VIP “Treat Thyself” weekend passes to SOS Fest. For parents who wish to bring their kiddos along, Do512Family has curated some amazing fun for the little ones in the Kids’ Kingdom, including:

To start the festival weekend, the Sound On Sound Fest “Late Knights” Kick-Off Parties (a.k.a. Knights) will take over Mohawk, The Sidewinder, Barracuda, Beerland, and Empire on Thursday, November 3. Anyone with an official Sound On Sound Wristband gets free access to the Knights shows and holders of the VIP Treat Thyself pass get priority access at each venue.
Bands performing include Phantogram, Explosions in the Sky, Purity Ring, Run the Jewels, Big Boi, Descendents, and more.

How To Get There
If you don’t feel like driving, SOS Fest invites attendees to travel to the festival via the festival shuttles, which are managed in partnership with Austin Tour Company. The official festival pick-up and drop-off location is in downtown Austin at Mohawk Austin (912 Red River). Multiple shuttles will run daily from noon to 3 a.m. on Friday, November 4 through Sunday, November 6. Daily shuttle schedules will be available via the SOS Fest website, festival app, and fest social media pages. If purchased in advance via the festival website, SOS Fest shuttles are $5 a person per day or $10 for the weekend.
Where To Stay
Pack up the family for a camping excursion! Family camp sites will be available and set a little farther back from the live music and late night shows. Three-day on-site camping passes on the Sherwood Forrest Faire grounds cost $75 per person with additional options available for renting tents or space for RV parking. The festival camping area will have a 24-hour diner hosted by purveyors of fine hot dogs Frank, a general store selling provisions and packaged goods, a private bar area, and private showers with hot water. The camping grounds will also host nightly shows including the SOS Knights: Comedy Club and the Disco Dungeon, a late night outdoor dance club open from 12:30 a.m. to 3 a.m.
