WHAT TO BUY
Any Odd Squad fans in your house? Experience gifts make for great presents, and tickets to see Odd Squad LIVE! at the Long Center on January 15, 2017 will be a sure hit!

Based on the PBS series, Odd Squad LIVE! is asking for your help in solving some oddness in your town. Team up with brand new agents Orian and Oleanna in this live, interactive adventure. With help from Ms. O back at headquarters, kids will put their STEM skills to the test and decode, decipher and unravel clues to stop villains like Father Time and Lady Terrible. Featuring an original script by the creators of Odd Squad and new music including songs by Soundcheck, Odd Squad: Live! is a laugh-out-loud, action-packed experience not to be missed.

Odd Squad is an Emmy Award-winning series about a spy organization run by kids that investigates anything strange, weird and especially odd. Each episode follows kid agents as they track down villains, stop odd creatures and help people with odd conditions like The Jinx or The Sing-Alongs. Odd Squad is a little Men In Black for kids, mixed with Airplane and elements of Get Smart. Also embedded in each episode is a math lesson aimed at kids 4 to 8, leading to the expression: Odd is the problem, math is the solution.

The show is best for all ages. Tickets start at $15 with an extra option of buying VIP passes that will get you in to meet the cast after the show. Find more information here.

WHERE TO GIVE

Drop off gently used coats, all sizes including adult-sized jackets, at any local Jack Brown Cleaners location. If you miss the deadline to donate, you can sign up to volunteer on distribution day this Saturday, December 10th, or you can make a monetary donation online.

Pollyanna Theatre Company is the first to bring ‘Theatre for the Very Young’ (TVY), a variety of theatre work and practices intentionally designed for children under the age of 6, to the Central Texas region. Whether the Weather – An Interactive Experience for Very Young Children, written and directed by Bethany Lynn Corey, runs November 9-12 and 16-19 at The Long Center.

Created for children 18 months – 5 years old, Whether the Weather follows two best friends, Sunny and Gus, as they explore the meaning of the British nursery rhyme. The pair moves between scenes with different types of weather—sunny, windy, rainy, snowy, etc.—discovering what makes each type of weather unique and confirming the strength of their friendship. Sunny and Gus learn that those we love and who love us are always by our side because they’ll “weather the weather whatever the weather.”

Trouble on the Double by Holly Hepp-Galván and presented by Pollyanna Theatre, Central Texas’ most well-known children’s theatre company, will show at the Rollins Studio Theatre at the Long Center for the Performing Arts from July 9-17, 2016.

Best suited for kids ages 4-10 years old, Trouble on the Double follows the story of young twins who may look alike but have very different personalities. While one is brave and not afraid to try anything, the other is timid and does not like to take any risks. Can these siblings learn to balance each other out? How much adventure is fun and how much is dangerous? Hepp-Galvan’s newest play for Pollyanna will have audiences both thinking and laughing as the action unfolds. This production is sure to be a perfect summertime trip to the theatre for both summer campers and families.

Trouble on the Double is set in a larger than life world in which children can climb and jump vast distances, extremely large animals wave ten-foot-long tails, and shadows come to life. Set designers Holly and Patrick Crowley will construct the world, and projection designer and puppeteer Sara Farr will create the digital puppets and work with the performers to form the shadow puppets.

Parents, teachers and caregivers can download a free study guide to accompany the production by visiting www.pollyannatheatrecompany.org/teachers/lesson-plans/. The guide contains an overview of the play, educational objectives and pre/post discussion questions and activities.
