Cooped up on maternity leave and starved for conversation, Jessie invites her forthright neighbor Lina, also a new mom, for coffee on the patio between their duplexes. Despite their vastly different finances, they become fast friends during naptimes—while someone watches from the mansion on the cliff overlooking Jessie’s yard. A comedy with dark edges, Cry It Out takes an honest look at the absurdities of being home with a baby, the power of female friendship, the dilemma of going back to work, and the effect class has on parenthood in America.

Mother’s Day is around the corner, and I thought this might be a great opportunity to get mom something both thoughtful and delicious.
I have an unreal sweet tooth. I believe there is always room for dessert, and I’m constantly buying coupons so that I can visit different bakeries around town in search of the perfect pastry.
Cake, Please is fantastic. It’s like something you would see on a TLC show, because they take your vision and customize it for you. I thought the timing was perfect because you can get a coupon today and pay just $9 for a dozen cupcakes. It would make Mother’s Day shopping pretty easy. I would love to design some diamond ring cupcakes, or maybe some decorated with fossils, old time cameras, maps, an old MG, or even my dad’s face. My mom loves all those things.
I just thought this was a great way to get a creative Mother’s Day gift. It will be here before we know it, next Sunday, May 8th.
You can tell your mom that calories don’t count on holidays!
