Name: Roscoe
Sex: Male
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Age: 3 years old
Animal ID: A669582
Location: Kennel 49 @Town Lake Animal Center

Roscoe is a ball-fetching champion who loves active games and he LOVES to go swimming and will readily leap into the water! He knows “sit,” and “down” and “drop it,” and seems to be housetrained. He’s been at the shelter for over 500 DAYS and really needs to find his own active forever family! Although he’ll pass other dogs on the trail without batting an eye, he is fairly uncertain about close contact with other dogs so would be best as an only dog.

Meet Roscoe at our Town Lake Animal Center location in kennel 48. Be sure to bring a tennis ball or frisbee, he loves to catch them in the air!

Roscoe has a videos!

Name: Topper
Sex: Neutered Male
Breed: Pit Bull Mix
Age: 4 Year Old
Animal ID: A672981
Location: Kennel 20 at Town Lake Animal Center

Topper

Charming, mild-mannered Topper has been through a lot in life, including over a year in our care at the shelter. Our staff and volunteers have done an amazing job getting him physically and emotionally healthy after an early life of severe neglect, and he’s totally ready to put his past behind him and settle into the loving home he deserves. Topper is a tiny bit hesitant at first when meeting new people, but once he’s comfortable, he’ll love you every adorable spot on his body! Topper has great leash manners, and frequently hits Town Lake with his volunteer friends to show off his easy-going attitude and wonderful, wind-swept ears. He loves playing with toys in his kennel to pass the time, and is always up for affection and petting. He’s getting bored and frustrated with shelter life, so head to our Town Lake Animal Center location and take Topper home!

Arlo & Ron

Arlo is a 2 year old neutered male with a sweet demeanor. He has been in our shelter since November 2014, 82 days and is in our Hard Luck Hounds program. It’s high time he finds a forever home!  Arlo is a people lover and was lucky enough to spend some time with Training By Tara. He knows sit and seems housetrained. Shelter life has been hard for him because he’s pretty uncertain about other dogs but we think with a family life away from the shelter and a bit more training, Arlo will make a best friend for life!

Name: Kola
Sex: Spayed Female
Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix
Age: 5 years old
Animal ID: A597150
Location: Kennel 431

Kola was found by a good Samaritan as a stray dog and brought to AAC. We found her to be severely overweight and quickly put her on a restrictive diet. She has since lost over 30 pounds and is feeling great! Kola walks great on leash, seems housetrained and is very social with all people.

Be sure to always feed your dog the best dog food you can afford, something high in protein and grain free seems to be well received and digested by all dogs! This girl would be an easy adoption for a 1st time pet owner or for someone who appreciates an easy going girl!

Kola was Pet of the Week on KXAN> http://kxan.com/2014/07/06/pet-of-the-week-kola/

Name: Jack
Sex: Neutered Male
Breed: Chihuahua Mix
Age: 2 year old
Animal ID: A669936
Location: Condo A2

 Jack2

Little Jack here was found running around on East 51st street. He was underweight and very fearful. He has been with us over 3 weeks now and we have found him to be charming, playful and a great companion to go for walks with. He lives easily with other small dogs and rides great in the car. He has tested positive for Heart Worms and needs to be treated for that. Speak to our own personal veterinarian about treatment and preventative. If you are considering adopting a pet, come meet Jack!

If Jack is not the pet for you, check out one of our previous Pet of the Week’s.

Name: Wilson
Sex: Neutered Male
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Age: 3 year old
Days in Shelter/Foster Care: over 165
Animal ID: A668505
Location: Cat Condo H3

Wilson

Wilson is a large, affectionate cat who loves petting and attention, and he has a cute “crinkled” ear that gives him a roguish look, especially since he’s also got a “tuxedo” on! Seen here with volunteer Suzanne, Wilson will readily follow you around and tell you all about how he feels.  He will do best in a home looking for a cat with a big, confident, self-assured personality and he definitely needs a home without dogs – he just doesn’t seem to like the canine set.  Wilson tested positive for FIV, but that’s easily manageable with normal pet-cat care: living indoors and having regular check-ups with a vet. And for all the reasons stated and more, Wilson is a STAFF pick!

If Wilson is not the pet for you, check out one of our previous Pet of the Week’s.
