    Learn the art of letterpress printing using Letterpress PLAY’s table-top platen press. In this two hour workshop, kids will learn a brief history of letterpress and be introduced to color theory. Each student will create several prints of their own design. While prints are drying, participants will gather around the craft table and make a Thaumaframe paper toy perfect for displaying your newly made artwork. Each maker will go home with 5 original prints, a thaumatrope, a thaumaframe, and an upcycled LetterpressPLAY notebook.

    The Very Hungry Caterpillar and his menagerie of animal friends have arrived at ZACH! Little ones will go wide-eyed with excitement as they recite along to their favorite Eric Carle classics like Brown Bear, Brown Bear10 Little Rubber Ducks, and The Very Lonely Firefly. Each story is brought to life by an array of faithfully recreated puppets that will enchant and engage both adults and children as they leap off the page and onto the stage.

    Recommended for children 12 months and up.

      The Inflatable Run & Festival Comes to Austin’s Travis County Expo Center on September 22, 2018

      1 Mile / 5K Inflatable Obstacle Course Includes Full Day of Entertainment with Costume Contest, Live Shows, Food Trucks, Carnival Games and a Gigantic Water Balloon Battle

      The most unique 5K run ever designed will be held at Austin’s Travis County Expo Center. The Inflatable Run is a family-friendly event featuring a mile-long course built entirely of kid-friendly, colorful, inflatable obstacles to duck under, bounce off, climb through, and slide down, which racers can run three times, for a total of 5K. The area will be packed with live music, food carts, carnival games, face painting, magic shows, inflatable Zorb balls to ride, a massive water balloon battle and a costume contest. Kids can also meet The Inflatable Run mascot, “Mr. Wacky”, who is, himself, an inflatable tube man. Ideal for families or even company gatherings, the Inflatable Run is suitable for all ages.

      Sherwood Forest Faire, now in its ninth year, is a popular Texas destination. This production, especially written and produced for Austin Scottish Rite Theater’s young audiences, provides a rare opportunity for families to experience the characters of Sherwood Forest Faire indoors in a convenient Austin space.

      Jungle Book: Jangal Ki Kahani opens this weekend at the Austin Scottish Rite Theater and runs through the month of April. This fresh Bollywood-styled take on Rudyard Kipling’s beloved classic, Jungle Book, features Mowgli in new adventures learning life lessons from his jungle family.


      Featuring original music by Austin’s own Bollywood swing band, The Sacred Cowgirls, the show will please kids and grownups alike with live action, dance, and fanciful settings. Kids get the best seats in the house—on the big carpet close to the action!
