228.11 Percy Pennybacker Bridge Park

Today is a very special day for the blog. A year ago my good friend Chris started to help me edit the blog each morning. He’s been such an asset and had such a positive impact on my work. I can’t thank him enough for the past 365 days. The first post he edited was “Windy Point Park “ on Lake Travis, so I thought in honor of his first post I would blog on another park on the water as small way of coming full circle.

The Pennybacker Bridge is one of my favorite spots in Austin. There’s a great trail you can hike and get some views of the lake (the entrance to the trail is right before the bridge as you’re headed north on the 360). Another great spot is right under the bridge by the boat ramps.

There’s a three-acre grassy area for picnicking, and you can get some great pictures of the sunset and the lake. This park is a great alternative if you want to spend some time on the water and don’t have a boat. It’s one of the best places in Central Texas to watch the sunset!

Again, a thousand thank you’s would not be enough. Chris has had such a great impact on the blog. I really appreciate you buddy!

If you’re headed on 360 over the bridge and cross over Lake Austin, the boat ramp and park are located right under the bridge.
