Blanton Museum

This weekend brings yet another questionable forecast with thunderstorms currently predicted daily. But if the weather is anything like it has been the last couple of weeks, we’ll get at least one or two afternoons with tons of sunshine. Don’t plan on staying indoors all weekend… you’ll inevitably regret believing the meteorologists.

FRIDAY TOP PICK: We’re admittedly biased, but we think the hottest thing happening in Austin right now is our boat shuttle to Ski Shores. This weekend we’re opening up shuttles on Friday evenings for the first time, and we’ve still got a few spots left for the inaugural trip.

Also FRIDAY: We’ll be checking out a new restaurant on Friday afternoon. Bill’s Oyster opened last week and we can’t wait to try it out. Tables are first come first served (no reservations) so show up early (they open at 3pm daily) and there’s a decent chance you’ll be able to get in.

SATURDAY TOP PICK: This is a tough one as there are several really cool events on Saturday, but if we had to pick just one, we’d go with the Blanton Museum’s New Grounds Initiative Grand Opening Party. The Blanton is one of favorite places in Austin, period- and we’re excited to check out the renovations and new installations. RSVP is appreciated.

SUNDAY TOP PICK: It’s Mother’s Day, so be sure to check out our roundup of ways to celebrate the day with your #1 fan.

Also Sunday (or any day really): We’ve been anxiously awaiting the opening of UNDERDOG, a Korean-American Wine Bar on South 1st Street. A few reservations are available as of this writing, but they also encourage walk-ins.
