All those looking to avoid downtown craziness – this is the polar opposite! This is such a unique Austin treasure, peacocks in the middle of Central Austin. Only in Austin, right? For those of you who are familiar with, The Secret Garden a favorite movie of mine growing up this is the closest real life “secret garden” I have ever encountered!
Let me say that if you are looking for a place to do headshots or take photos this is the place, it is where I had my headshots done, on a rainy day no less!
For those out there that have a green thumb or aspire to have one. The Second Saturday of each month from 10:00am to noon are reserved for gardeners who would like to help spruce up the gardens of Mayfield Park. Come one, come all, no experience necessary. The next time to help will be April 10 (I’ll give you a reminder as the date nears!) It is a great way to give back to the city while enjoying the true peacefulness and bliss.
If you are looking for a day of adventures you can head down the road and try out list item #18. Climb Mount Bonnell, http://austin365stag.wpengine.com/2010/02/04/18-climb-mount-bonnell/ and then mosey on over the Mayfield Park to relax. A full day of outdoors is not bad if you are trying to avoid the last SXSW and take in this wonderful Springtime weather in Austin.
One more reminder, peacocks! Trust me you are like one with them, it’s a very unique and fascinating experience. An up-close experience where you feel like one with nature is always a day well had.
It is places like this that l leave thinking, how am I so lucky to call myself an Austinite.
