It’s been awhile since we had a new Austin photo op for your Insta feed—and this one is social distancing-friendly! Pease Park Conservancy is working with AIA Austin and Austin Foundation for Architecture on a new art installation that prioritizes thoughtful social distancing through creative wayfinding in our green spaces.
One thing we have learned during the pandemic is how imperative it is to have access to green space—but it’s been a challenge to keep everyone safe. This installation explores that intersection and provides a practical opportunity for folks to get out. As things continue to open up, we are all having to learn new ways of navigating public spaces.
P A R K S P A C E is an art installation comprised of vibrantly colored squares that are painted (eco-friendly paint!) on the ground to illustrate safe distances when outside. Each park participating has a specific native Texas wildflower and Pease Park’s is the bluebonnet.
