These very well may be fighting words, but when I say “best pizza in Austin” that is no lie. Pizza can be a polarizing topic as it comes in so many forms. Sammataro can best be described as a traditional New York style pie.

The fresh ingredients and their wood fired oven work together to create the perfect merriment of flavors. They use 48-hour fermented dough and the pies are topped with homemade organic tomato sauce. When I tell you this pie is a crowd pleaser, that is not an exaggeration.

On weekends from noon-3:30 p.m. they offer pizza by the slice. Honestly though, why go with just a slice when you can have an entire pizza?

As an added bonus, Woody’s Shaved Ice is right next door which makes for the perfect post pizza treat.

A perfect Austin day would be headeding out to the Lost Creek greenbelt, which is just down the street from Sammataro and Woody’s, and then stopping by after for pizza and shaved ice!
