Join Swift Fit Events every Wednesday for Republic Square Park Fitness, a *mostly* bodyweight bootcamp unlike any workout you’ve ever experienced before. Danielle (aka Coach Gert) uses her love for bodyweight movements, speed, agility and primal play to bring you a one-of-a-kind experience that focuses on building strength, power, speed, and mobility a while having the time of your life. Classes are free and open to the public with ticket registration.


January 5th

Free Week 2023

Free Week was launched at the old Emo’s on Sixth and Red River way back in 2003 to help clubs boost business at a time of year when revenues are usually down. Twenty years later, it has mushroomed into a highly anticipated annual event. This year more than 100 local and national artists will play around at more than 15 venues in the Red River Cultural District for special shows with free admission from January 5th -7th.


January 6th

Masa y Más Grand Opening

Masa y Más is a vibrant taqueria on South Lamar serving familial and regional Central Mexican recipes from Chef Roberto Campos. It opens on Friday, January 8th! Stop by for lunch, dinner or Sunday brunch this weekend and enjoy tacos, tortas, papas rellenas (think: baked potato with griddled cheese, meat & veggies), salads, and of course – great cocktails.

January 7th

Twice As Good Fest

Feels So Good and Happens Twice are teaming up to bring us Twice as Good Fest. Doors are at 2 p.m. and you can expect a lineup full of six separate performances and complimentary drinks!

January 8th

Presh Fitness Studio Grand Opening

Join Presh Fitness as they celebrate their grand opening. Come for the group classes, stay for the vibes. This grand opening will be a fun and energetic gathering that comes in three parts. See the schedule below.

Swap Party! Clothing & Home Goods Swap

January 11th

Juicebar: Freshly Squeezed Sketch Comedy

Juicebar is an Austin based comedy collective made up of a diverse collection of local filmmakers, comedians, and actors. See them create an all new hour of weird fast paced sketch comedy each month. It takes place on the 2nd Wednesdays of the month at 9:30 p.m.


January 12th

The Gay Enough Comedy Show

Most comedy shows should be gay-ER, some are a little TOO gay, but The Gay Enough Comedy Show is just gay enough. Fluid and lesbian Arielle Isaac Norman hosts four of her gay (or at least gay-looking) friends for a night of standup, ending with a set by Arielle that’s basically guaranteed to be interactive and flirtatious – sit in the back if you just like to watch. So bring your hot, gay enough friends and lovers for a night of laughter, which studies show is an aphrodisiac. It starts at 7 p.m. on January 12th at East Austin Comedy Club.


January 13th

Girls Girls Girls! 

The Girls are BACK improvising a raucous Broadway-style musical based on your suggestion. Laugh out loud alongside the two-time Austin Chronicle nominated funniest comedy troupe in town. It’s the 2nd Friday of the month at 8 p.m.


January 14th

City-Wide Vintage Sale

Located at the Palmer Events Center in Austin, Texas, City-Wide Vintage Sale has served generations of treasure hunters over four decades!

January 15th

The Roosevelt Room’s Master Class Series – Rum & Sugar Cane Spirits

In this in-depth Master Class at Roosevelt Room, attendees will taste through a flight of eleven distinct styles of Rum – including English-style, Jamaican, Spanish-style, Demerara, Agricole, Cachaça, and more – while learning about their origin, what makes each one unique, and how each has evolved over the centuries. In addition to learning about each spirit, attendees will receive instruction on the fundamentals of tasting, in order to understand and appreciate their nuances, their trademark qualities in order to identify them, and what to look for in Rums of superior quality. Attendees must be 21 years of age. Class promptly begins at noon and concludes at 2:30 p.m.

The MLK Community Festival

The MLK Community Festival kicks off at 11:15 a.m. and will last until 3:30 p.m.; it will include all types of vendors and local musical artists to make this year’s celebration the best ever!

French Cheeses Paired with French Wines

During Antonelli’s Guided Cheese and Wine Pairing you’ll enjoy a tasting of three French cheeses paired with three complementary French wines. The Rock & Roll Sideshow

January 22nd

Hi How Are You Day 2023: UMI & DannyLux

HI HOW ARE YOU DAY is an annual celebration of the life and legacy of the late musician, songwriter, and visual artist Daniel Johnston and is an officially recognized day by both the City of Austin and the State of Texas. It’s a day to ask others “HI, HOW ARE YOU?” and really mean it, and reminds us to have open conversations about mental health and well-being. This time around they’ll be featuring singer UMI, pioneering a new range of sounds with roots in R&B and neo-soul and an advocate for meditation and mental health, along with 2022 Billboard Latin Music Award nominee DannyLux, a singer/songwriter/guitarist who is reinventing traditional corridos and sierreño through a Chicano rocker lens.


January 23rd

‘Year of the Rabbit’ — Chinese New Year at Wu Chow

Join Wu Chow for a special Chinese New Year Party.
