African American Book Fest

Jun 25, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Free

Austin’s African American Book Festival will celebrate 10 years of literary excellence! Come to the Carver Museum and Library for works by and about African Americans.

The keynote speaker is Sharon G. Flake, a nationally recognized young adult author of such books as The Skin I’m In, Bang! and Pinned.

This year’s focus is on young adult literature and how powerful it can be in the lives of each generation. The festival will conclude with discussions of Between the World and Me by MacArthur Genius Grant recipient Ta-Nehisi Coates and the cultural and artistic impact of Beyonce’s visual album Lemonade.
