While Austin is better known for its BBQ and Tacos, the city has recently grown by leaps and bounds with its oyster offerings in recent years. Here are some of our favorite spots:

Clark’s Oyster Bar

Clark’s serves up some of the best oysters in the city. They have a full selection of oysters from the east and west coast. Maine, Massachusetts, Washington and California to name a few. Their oysters are served with fresh horseradish, cocktail sauce and a shallot mignonette sauce. You can order by the oyster (raw) or try the oven roasted golf oysters.

Not only are they a great restaurant for Oysters, they also have a retail/wholesale market so you know you’re being served some of the freshest seafood in Austin. Go for the Texas Gulf Oysters here, they’re driven up from the Texas coast on a daily basis.

Deckhand Oyster Bar

At Deckhand you’ll find oysters prepared in many different styles. If you’re looking for traditional shucked oysters they have those, and they’re great. However, where they really shine is their cooked oyster plates.  A local favorite is the La Frontera Oysters, which are broiled with crab meat stuffing, chopped bacon and monterrey cheese. If you’re looking for something uncommon try the grilled Tokyo Oysters, they come with a homemade masago sauce, green onion and mayo.
