This may seem like a fairly obvious Austin “Thing to Do” but with it being New Year’s Resolution Time I am sure many resolutions include something about getting in shape so here it is, Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trails.
The trails offer all different course lengths depending on where you decide to start, you can do anything from just under three to over ten miles. The course is one big circle so it makes it easy and the scenery never gets old. Plus, fresh air is good for the soul.
Run Tex provides many water stations throughout the trail so you do not have to worry about bringing water.
For you dog lovers out there you can also stop at the Dog Park and let your dog cool off in the River at South First and Barton Springs Road.
This is something that can be enjoyed year round and days like today are perfect for it! The trails seem to be quite popular because Matthew McConaughey, Lance Armstrong, some of the Cast of Friday Night Lights, and others have all been spotted getting a work out in on the trails
This is a link to a course map so you can get a better idea of the mile markers throughout the trails.
I am on day three and have to say if it wasn’t fun my goal of blogging every day I may have waited until tomorrow morning to blog again but here I am.
I had dinner with a fellow Austinite and Realtor and asked her what is something that everyone in Austin should do and she said Cap City Comedy Club, so in honor of our good dinner I will make that today’s thing to do.
Cap City Comedy Club in North Austin, off Research Blvd. I have been on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Who doesn’t love a night at a Comedy Club, it is something different and laughing is said to be the best medicine, right?
Cap City Comdedy Club offers a full bar, is a great place to brings groups and parking is normally pretty decent.
They have Open Mic Sundays as well as offer Defensive Driving!
Check it out for lots of laughs!

All Austin Music lovers have surly seen Bob Schneider but for those of you who have not I recommend going. To be honest, I am not that big of a live music fan but in an effort to be cultured and change things up I go listen every now and then. The way I see things, when it comes to music, there is nothing more Austin than Bob Schneider.
Nothing about me is musically inclined so I have no idea how to describe the type of music he plays so I am going to say easy listening, those that can better describe his sound please in musical terms help me out. I do think that it is a type of music that all kinds of people would enjoy.
He is an Austin based musician that is known nationwide. In fact he has done the opening act for Dave Matthews Band, I think that is a testament to his talent. For those pop culture junkies out there at one time he was linked to Sandra Bullock.
He is playing tonight at Antone’s located 213 West 5th Street. For those who can not make it out tonight he is a regular at the Saxon Pub as well, so sometime this year I would recommend catching a show.

I have decided that my daily blog will be 365 unique things you can do in Austin. Each day I will tackle a different event, restaurant, concert. I have actually been making a list of things that I want to include and as the year gets underway I have no doubt that I will find plenty of other unique Austin things to include. Each Monday I will post the list of events from today through the current list.
Mozart's Coffee Austin
I’ll start with something that can be enjoyed any day of the year but is a place I love to enjoy a warm drink or a good dessert, Mozarts. Luckily, I work two doors down so any morning that I need something to jump start my day or a mid-day snack I can run over there and am never disappointed. Truth be told, I have to say it is the great view and the overall atmosphere that keeps me going back. For me, there is something about a work view that never gets old, not to mention it is pet friendly!
Try out is this year, Mozarts, located at 3825 Lake Austin Blvd.
