If you want to live the good life at a resort with your family but just can’t find the time to break away for an overnight stay somewhere, a daycation is just the thing you need. Offering the best of both worlds, a trip for the day to the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa offers a day of rest, relaxation, family fun, and more while allowing you to return home to sleep peacefully in your own bed!

Set on the banks of the Colorado River on over 400 acres just outside of Bastrop, this family-friendly resort is a short 30-minute drive from most points in the Austin area; close enough to home but just far enough away to escape your day-to-day life.

The day pass includes access to the Crooked River Water park which includes a lazy river, a two-story waterslide, hot tub, splash pad, kiddie pool, a sandy beach area with plenty of seats, and an adult-only pool for patrons who are 17 years and older. The pool is heated in the cooler months, and there is a volleyball net for a friendly game of pool volleyball!

The onsite eateries, including Firewheel CafĂ© and Shellers Barrelhouse Bar, offer menus that include family favorites such as chicken tenders, burgers, french fries, and wings, along with a variety of healthier options such as fresh fruit and salads, and more indulgent options such as the loaded Shiner Bock queso. A full bar offering wine, beer, and mixed drinks (think pina colada and margaritas poolside) is closeby with specialty non-alcoholic drinks available as well. Keep in mind that there are no outside food or drinks allowed. Directly outside of the pool area is a food truck offering a small selection of tacos and bbq… Texas food at its best!

This taco and BBQ truck is an option for quick and tasty food right outside of the family pool area.

For special events or extra coverage from the bright rays from the Texas sun, cabana rentals are available both on the family side and adult-only side for an additional charge. The cabanas come equipped with seating, towels, water bottles, a $25 cafe credit, and a television. Half-day rentals are $150 from 9 am – 1 pm with full-day (8 am – 8:30 pm) rentals available for $300.

After our family’s fun day at the resort, bonus fun was had while walking back to the car where we got to visit with the resident alpacas and longhorns. If you’d like to spend additional time on the property either before or after your swim, enjoy the resort’s brand new sports court which includes pickleball, basketball, and tennis. Or, take a walk along the trail on the bank of the Colorado River, sit in one of the many rocking chairs while enjoying the view, use one of their onsite bikes for a ride around the property, or play several yard-games. The “daycation” experience also includes the activities listed in the resort’s daily activity guide which can be accessed either at the property or by visiting their Facebook page.

For additional on-property experiences at an extra cost, consider booking a tee time at the resort’s acclaimed Wolfdancer Golf Club. The 18-hole, 7,205-yard course runs through the area’s river valley terrain of rolling prairies and heavily-wooded ridgeline. Or, enjoy pure relaxation by scheduling treatment at the resort’s Spa Django. Guests can choose from several signature treatment options or enjoy the brand new float suite, a zero-gravity and sensory-free float experience that promotes deep relaxation.
