Anton Nel: Internationally Famous Pianist @The Long Center

Jan 29, 2017 @ 3:00 pm

Returning for his first solo recital in Dell Hall since 2013, Austin’s Creative Home is pleased to see one of Austin’s own creatives—pianistic powerhouse Anton Nel—back in stately Steinway style January 29th. Tickets are available today!

Even though he is just across the water from us, Anton Nel remains a pianist of immense interest. Winner of the first prize in the 1987 Naumburg International Piano Competition at Carnegie Hall—one of the most prestigious, dating back to 1926—Anton Nel enjoys a remarkable career both at-home, as the head of the Division of Keyboard Studies at the University of Texas, and abroad as a touring, world-class artist.

Anton Nel’s program for the night boasts some familiar and beloved pieces:

Claude Debussy

Suite Bergamasque

Ludwig van Beethoven

Variations and Fugue in E-flat, Op. 35 (“Eroica” Variations)

            Frédéric Chopin

Ballade No. 3 in A-flat, Op. 47

Mazurka in C-sharp Minor, Op. 50, No. 3

                        Three Waltzes, Op. 64

Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante, Op. 22

Join the Long Center in welcoming Anton Nel back to our hall, January 29, and escape for an evening of classical notes and tireless keys.

Tickets available at TheLongCenter.org or by calling (512) 474.LONG (5664).

Also available at the Long Center’s 3M Box Office located at 701 West Riverside Drive at South First Street.
