Artist Talk with Tacita Dean
April 21 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pmFree
A free online event, part of the Blanton Museum of Art’s Curated Conversation series
The internationally acclaimed British artist Tacita Dean has been the subject of multiple solo exhibitions across Europe, the US, and Mexico, and is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the Sixth Benesse Prize at the 51st Venice Biennale, the Hugo Boss Prize at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, and the Kurt Schwitters Prize. As part of her “Five Americans” series in 2011, she photographed Leo Steinberg at work. The result, a series of photographs titled The Line of Fate, is currently on view in the Blanton’s exhibition, After Michelangelo, Past Picasso: Leo Steinberg’s Library of Prints. Join Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs Carter Foster and curator Holly Borham for a conversation with Dean to discuss what inspired this art work, which visualizes Steinberg’s dictum, “the eye is part of the mind.”
This event is free and open to the public; registration is required. For more information, visit: https://blantonmuseum.org/events/artist-talk-with-tacita-dean/
