Austin Classical Guitar and Texas School for the Blind & Visually Impaired

Austin Classical Guitar (ACG), a non-profit arts education organization, is thrilled to announce that they will be presenting the award-winning guitarist Ioana Gandrabur on January 27th at 8pm at the AISD Performing Arts Center.
In addition to her concert, Ioana will be spending the week as artist-in-residence at Texas School for the Blind & Visually Impaired, working with students in their guitar program. The residency will culminate in those students giving a performance to open Ioana’s concert.
Since 2010, ACG has partnered with Texas School for the Blind & Visually Impaired to offer daily classes at the school. Led by music educator Jeremy Coleman, the students use a braille-adapted version of ACG’s classroom guitar curriculum. As a result of the success of these classes, ACG and Texas School for the Blind & Visually Impaired have been developing an online braille guitar resource specifically designed to support lifelong learning on the classical guitar for people with visual impairment. On the night of the concert, ACG will be giving a presentation about the braille guitar resource along with details about its upcoming launch in March.
