Backyard Ball Hosted by Living Room Dance Party’s DJ Mel, Austin Parks Foundation, and Austin Ed Fund

Austin Parks Foundation is excited to partner with the Austin Ed Fund, Austin ISD’s nonprofit public education foundation, to throw a second edition of The Backyard Ball with DJ Mel. The special event is presented by Cirrus Logic and will be held on Saturday August 22 at 11a.m. Over 300 little Austinites joined DJ Mel for the first Backyard Ball in July.

The dance party will be a fun opportunity for children to dance, sing, let loose and  learn a little bit about resources available for AISD students as they return to school, including AISD’s Back to School Backpack Bash 2020, as well as the important role that staying active outside during remote learning can play this semester. Because the event is virtual, kids of all ages can safely participate in this fun activity from their own living room or yard through a Twitch livestream. Families are encouraged to sing and dance along.

The Backyard Ball will also allow families to engage in opportunities to help their community through Austin Parks Foundation’s upcoming initiatives. In addition to The Backyard Ball, Austin Parks Foundation’s Little Hummingbird Society offers parents an opportunity to engage with their community and have fun with their kids while promoting a healthy lifestyle, as well as volunteerism and advocacy for the youngest park-goers.
