Celebration Church Opening New Mueller Campus

Not long before they founded a church here in 2000, Pastors Joe and Lori Champion were visiting Austin from their home in Baton Rouge. As they drove up I-35, Lori remembers turning to her husband and saying, “This is our city.”
Now, many years later, and with their thriving Celebration Church in Georgetown welcoming thousands of people every week, the couple has decided to expand their ministry into the heart of Austin.
“We want to bring what’s been happening north into Austin,” Lori says. “It’s the fulfillment of what we set out to do from the very beginning.”
The new campus will be at AISD Performing Arts Center at 1500 Barbara Jordan Blvd. in Mueller. This will become the second U.S. location of the church on Sunday, August 26th (they also have international campuses in Mozambique and Italy). Pastor Riis Lewis will lead the campus with Pastors Joe and Lori making regular visits as well.

Celebration partners with local charities to make an impact in the community. From gathering school supplies for children in need and chartering planes for hurricane relief to marching against human trafficking. “We’re a church that does more church during the week than on Sundays,” Lori says. “We’re about empowering people to make a difference in the world.”
Just like in Georgetown, the church will offer full programming and care for children of all ages, live music, and an atmosphere that’s intentionally not your traditional church experience. Lori says they are excited to bring Austinites together in this new, central space. “People are looking for a place of support and strength that can get them out of a ditch and into their God-given destiny.”
