Charles Dickens: Home on the Range or Victorian England Meets the Wild West
Jun 29, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$15.00A performance/lecture written and compiled by Francesca Christian, Ev Lunning and Derek Webster.
Charles Dickens never made it to Texas on his tours to the United States, but pioneer Texians certainly read his novels, and his novels still provide striking commentary on Texas history—from the Revolution to the present day. From 1845 to 1855—from immanent statehood to the opening of the first telegraph office, from A Christmas Carol to Hard Times—we examine the influence of Dickens on the Lone Star State.
Come join us in the Neill-Cochran House Museum and enjoy delicious cocktails from Still Austin. This performance will be in person only, and we can’t wait to see everyone live
