Desert Door Conservation Series #2 Spoke Hollow Release Party
July 14 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm$40.00
“Conservation is something that we all benefit from. There’s a difference between preservation and conservation. At Spoke Hollow, the way we try to educate is not necessarily preservation. The land doesn’t need to stay static. The land needs to undergo conservation, which means protecting the natural resources and elevating it to its highest level.” – Josh Crumpton, founder/operator of Spoke Hollow Outfitters.
One of the things you quickly learn about Josh Crumpton and the Spoke Hollow Ranch in Wimberley, TX, is that there are no quick meetings here. Virtual won’t suffice. It’s impossible to leave Spoke Hollow without a tour on a Polaris 4 wheeler. A tour of the land with Josh gives good insight into how he lives his life and reminds us that, yes, you can choose your own adventure.
The passion that the Crumptons have for their land is infectious. Luckily they’re eager to share their approach to conserving the ranch as well as underscoring all the benefits reaped from that with as many folks as they can.
When Josh shared with Desert Door & Wild Spirits Wild Places his vision for the land and a long-term plan to restore waterways throughout the property, we knew it was something we wanted to support. Like most land projects, we also knew it would serve as inspiration for our spirit.
Join us as we celebrate the release of Spoke Hollow, our Conservation Series #2 – a limited botanical Texas sotol we developed in conjunction with our regenerative work on Spoke Hollow Ranch.
As with many ranches in Texas, Spoke Hollow is covered with Ashe Juniper (or mountain cedar, as it’s more commonly called). We spent a day helping clear cedar off of the property – an important action that helps maintain and protect the aquifers that feed groundwater to the ranch.
Like the ranch, this limited edition bottle is also rare and beautiful, and features our Texas sotol infused with natural botanicals.
Upon arrival at our event, grab a tasting of the new release and connect with the conservation-minded folks in Texas as you enjoy passed provisions by Huckleberry. Their food highlights the South and Gulf Coast by using ingredients that are sustainably-sourced from our local farms, ranches, and coastal waters.
After, we’ll gather in our Rack House for the premiere of “Conservation Series #2”, a documentary by Salt Box Films highlighting the work we helped with at Spoke Hollow Ranch. This will be followed by a panel discussion with Josh Crumpton, Owner/Operator of Spoke Hollow Outfitters, Dr. Karen Looby, CEO of Wild Spirit Wild Places, and Brent Looby, Desert Door Founder, who also spearheaded the recipe behind this bottle release.
We’ll finish off the night with live music by our friend Jordan Matthew Young. Now’s a good time to wander over and visit the Wild Spirit Wild Places and Spoke Hollow Outfitters booths as you enjoy some Desert Door cocktails. Folks attending this event will have the first crack at this limited bottle release. Proceeds from this bottle will help support Wild Spirit Wild Places and future conservation projects.
Your ticket includes:

About Wild Spirit Wild Places
Wild Spirit Wild Places is a non-profit established by Desert Door distillery. Desert Door sources all of the sotol used to create its distilled spirit in the beautiful West Texas desert. We founded Wild Spirit Wild Places because we’re passionate about preserving these untamed, awesome expanses of land. Today, the wide open spaces that are the hallmark of Texas are under threat from increased land development and fragmentation of generational ranch lands. Wild Spirit Wild Places exists to protect these dwindling ranch lands and rangelands. Our motivation is simple — we don’t want to be the generation that sat idly by while our wild places disappeared. Visit the Wild Spirit Wild Places website to learn how you can support Texas land conservation.
