El Raval, the restaurant on South Lamar known for its Spanish fusion tapas, extensive wine selection and world-class cocktails, is hosting a viewing party for the total solar eclipse from noon to 4 p.m. on Monday, April 8. El Raval’s Chef Laila Bazahm will join forces with Chef Beigler Cruz for a special “Juan Y Yoko” (Spain meets Japan) culinary experience, featuring a delicious omakase meal that combines their love of Asian and Spanish cuisine, sponsored by Nativo Gin. Chef Cruz is the former head sushi chef at the nationally-acclaimed Uchi Austin and is the former Chef de Cuisine at Golfstrømmen in Houston. In addition to the tasty bites and drinks, a live DJ will be spinning Spanish and funk house music on the patio where guests can relax while waiting for the eclipse to take place around 1:35 p.m.
El Raval will provide a complimentary pair of solar eclipse glasses to view the solar phenomenon safely. Reservations for this event can be made online through OpenTable.
