Footgolf City Championship

The 2018 Footgolf City Championship, hosted by the Harvey Penick Golf Campus (HPGC), takes place on Saturday, July 21, 2018. The footgolf tournament is open to players of all ages and skill levels, and players and spectators are invited to join the party at B.D. Riley’s Irish Pub at Mueller (1905 Aldrich St.) for Happy Hour specials and prizes following the tournament.

HPCG—the only footgolf course in Austin—is challenging competitors to an 18-hole tournament. Participants can play as an individual in the competitive division or in a partner scramble in the social division. The competitive division is broken up into flights: kids 12 and under and 13 to 17; women 18 to 35 and 36 and older; and men 18 to 35, 36 to 59, and 60 and older. Those looking for a more casual outing can sign up for the social division and team up with a friend or family member for a less competitive round. The increasingly popular sport of footgolf is played by kicking a soccer ball from a tee box to an enlarged 21-inch cup in as few shots as possible, following the basic rules and score-keeping of golf. The holes are shorter than a traditional golf hole, but are assigned par and include bunkers and hazards. All of the revenue generated by golf and footgolf at HPGC, including Footgolf City Championship registration fees, goes back into maintaining the course and supporting The First Tee of Greater Austin programming.
