Intro to Hand Lettering

Join us for an introduction to hand lettering, taught by designer and lettering artist, Isa D’Aniello. In this 2.5 hour class, you’ll learn typography basics and get acquainted with multiple letterform styles with plenty of practice. Isa will guide you through identifying a phrase that speaks to you and how to develop an illustrative style that matches its tone. You’ll get hands-on guidance designing a layout, sketching and inking your phrase, and will leave with a framable piece of artwork.
ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED:
Paper (copy, cardstock)
Rulers
Pencils + Sharpeners
Double-sided Sharpies
Folders for handouts

Ok, now here is the cool part. You can also sign up for a PART 2 for this learnshop and Isa will teach you how to turn your lettering in to a digital image that you can use on the web. This will happen 1 week later on October 20th from 7-9pm.
In this 1.5 hour class, you’ll fine-tune a completed lettering piece using Photoshop (free trial available online). Isa will guide you through Photoshop’s essential tools, including adding color, texture, and layout adjustments. You’ll leave class with a digital file of your hand lettering in poster form.

Computer equipped with Photoshop (free trial available http://www.adobe.com/downloads.html)
