Mental Health Awareness Day at Rowing Dock

Oct 10, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 8:00 pm

All activities are free to all, but advanced registration is required.

Reset with us at Rowing Dock this World Mental Health Awareness Day. Studies have shown that spending time outside and incorporating nature into your daily life can greatly benefit your mental and physical wellbeing. In support of “World Mental Health Day: make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority,” on Monday, October 10th, you’re invited to Rowing Dock for a day of FREE outdoor programming designed to give you the opportunity to connect, reflect, and reset. This event is brought to you by Rowing Dock, Recalibrate, ATX Yoga Girl, and Loventure Therapy.

Daytime programming will include an hour of free paddling. Evening programming will begin with an expert lakeside chat about modern mental health featuring Alyssa Cornett, and hosted by Recalibrate. We’ll end the evening with a guided sunset sound bath and meditation, led by Cynthia Bernard, founder of ATX Yoga Girl. Local vendors will provide refreshments and treats will be provided.

Evening programming spots are very limited, so grab tickets now.

Pro Tips:

All activities are free to all, but advanced registration is required.

If you’ll be participating in the evening program, you must bring your own yoga mat and towel.

Can I show up without registering in advance? No, all participants MUST register in advance for the particular activity they are interested in.

If I want to stay out longer than one hour to paddle, is that also free? No, in order to ensure as many community members have the opportunity to participate, your first hour will be free, but after that, you will be charged at our hourly rental rates.

Can you provide more information about what the mental health lakeside chat will entail? Yes! The lakeside chat will dive into the educational basics of modern mental health and how nature can fuel mental wellness. During the session we’ll cover common questions like: What’s the difference between psychology, psychotherapy, and psychiatry? How do I choose a therapist and get the most out of therapy? How do I support my mental health in daily life? – as well as answering employee questions that we can collect before and during the event – with a goal of educating and empowering everyday mental health for all and sharing tangible tips for using nature as a tool to do so.

If I want to participate in the paddle, lakeside chat, and soundbath, do I need to register for all of them separately? Yes, you must register for the one hour paddle AND the evening programming. Our evening programming has very limited availability, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible.

Will food and refreshments be provided during the evening session? We will have vendors that will provide some refreshments and goodies, but we encourage you to eat prior to attending.

How long is the evening programming? We would recommend allocating about two hours. Check-in for the evening programming begins at 5:30pm. Our lakeside chat will begin at 6:00pm, and our soundbath and meditation will begin at 6:30pm. Afterwards, you will have an opportunity to mingle, and check out our vendor booths.

Is there an age requirement? People of all ages can participate in the one hour paddle. If you are under the age of 16, you must have a parent/guardian with you. If you are under the age of 18, you must have a parent/guardian sign your waiver. For the evening programming, we ask that attendees be 16+.
