Ready, Set, Plant – Sapling Planting with TreeFolks & KAB
Jan 28, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
- Instructor: TreeFolks, KAB, City of Austin
It’s time to go ALL OUT with TreeFolks, Keep Austin Beautiful and the City of Austin. Join us for a tree planting workday at Robert E Lee Road, near Barton Springs. Volunteers will plant small saplings that will not require irrigation. These saplings will help to restore native tree and shrub diversity and reduce water runoff and improve water quality in Austin’s creeks. You should wear long pants, long sleeved shirt, and closed toe shoes as we will be working in areas with tall vegetation along the creek. Poison ivy is frequently present in these areas, so it is important to dress wisely! Bring a water bottle, hat and sunscreen and dress appropriately for the weather. Water, coffee, light refreshments, gloves and tools will be provided. Planting Leaders are needed to lead volunteer planting crews at planting events. Leaders meet half an hour early to help organize tools and get special instructions, then provide direct supervision of planting volunteers. If you would like to sign up to be a leader, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
