Shakespeare in the Dark: Macbeth
Oct 31, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - Nov 4, 2018 @ 9:00 pm

Opening live on Halloween at the historic and haunted Driskill Hotel, in association with The Filigree Theatre, Shakespeare in the Dark: Macbeth is an immersive horror, live theatre experience performed entirely in pitch blackness. The removal of visual overstimulation leads to a state of sensory deprivation, leading audience members to appreciate why Shakespeare is still performed 400 years after his death: it’s all about the language. By removing sight, the performance in darkness is inherently accessible to audience members who are blind or visually impaired, a demographic often denied full and equal access to theatre.
Macbeth is a play about ordinary people led to extraordinary actions under extraordinary circumstances. The production will combine the innate human fear of the dark with the supernatural and psychological horror of Shakespeare’s writing to create a terrifying experience of sensory deprivation and a unique opportunity to focus solely on the text of the play without distraction.
Run time: One hour, with no intermission.
