The Struggle and The Glory: The American Experience

Jun 12, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

$20.00

Come celebrate the opening of our newest art exhibition with its sponsor Art 84! This collection by Cornelius Carter captures the struggle and glory of living life as an African-American in the United States throughout history, along with the artist’s faith in the dream of equality and opportunity for all. We share that faith and we support all the people who are working so hard today to make the dream a reality.
Taking his inspiration from multiple traditions, Cornelius weaves together imagery from history, mythology, childhood, and life experience to create paintings that are thought-provoking, captivating, and beautiful. He often incorporates historical elements and classical styling, but from his own cultural perspective. People and their relationships are a central theme in his work.
We will gather throughout the house and lawn to celebrate these works by Cornelius Carter. Additionally, Still Austin will be on site with their delicious libations. This opening reception is free, and we are happy to provide free parking for our guests in the lot behind the museum. For more information, see https://www.nchmuseum.org/nchm-events/sg-opening.
