Sunday Morning Math Group – Fancy Geometry!

The Sunday Morning Math Group is an outreach event targeted at 6th-12th graders which attempts to supplement math topics that aren’t often covered in traditional math classes. The SMMG will be in room 4.102 of Robert Lee Moore Hall (on UT’s campus) on Sunday, December 8 from 12-2pm. UT Professor Michael Starbird will be speaking on some theorems in geometry:

“Plain plane geometry contains some of the most beautiful insights and proofs ever-some dating from ancient times and some created by living mathematicians. This interactive session will include some of my favorites from old and new proofs of the Pythagorean Theorem to truly elegant insights about ellipses. Geometry provides many treats!”

The event is free, and there will be free bagels, free pastries, free coffee, free juice, and free street parking!
