AUSTIN, TX (January 22, 2014) – The ninth Annual Texas Heritage Songwriters’ Hall of Fame Awards Show will take place Sunday, June 22, 2014 at ACL Live at the Moody Theater in downtown Austin, Texas. A limited number of tickets to the show, celebrating some of the most important Texas legends in country music, will go on sale to the public Tuesday, April 15 at ACL-Live.com.

The Texas Heritage Songwriters’ Association (TxHSA) is also proud to announce this year’s honorees: “Bakersfield sound” pioneer and “Hee Haw” co-host Buck Owens whose hits include “Act Naturally” and “Waitin’ in Your Welfare Line,” Grammy Award-winning artist with a string of top-ten country hits K.T. Oslin, and outlaw country musician and esteemed member of The Highwaymen Waylon Jennings.

These iconic artists join previous inductees who embody the bold spirit of Texas songwriters such as Kris Kristofferson, Townes Van Zandt, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Delbert McClinton, Guy Clark, and many more. The 2013 inductees included Roger Miller, Ronnie Dunn, and Sonny Curtis. The weekend featured performances from Toby Keith, Jack Ingram, Larry Gatlin, Dunn, and Curtis, among others. The 2014 Awards Show performers will be announced shortly.

“How can you not be excited about this year’s honorees? Waylon, Buck, and KT, how worthy are these folks?!!” says Joe Ables, Texas Heritage Songwriters Association board member and owner of Saxon Pub in Austin. “It’s hard to believe the great number of incredible songwriters that hail from Texas. AND, wait until you see who is going to be performing this year! We certainly hope that Austin will be ready for one helluva show!”

This celebration brings together past Hall of Fame inductees and honors those whose contributions continue to elevate those Texas songwriters whose sound and personalities are as large as the state itself. Each year, the event also recognizes one person for their extraordinary support of the songwriting community with The Darrell K. Royal Patron Award. This year’s recipient is Bill Mack, one of the most recognizable voices in country music radio.

Sunday’s Hall of Fame Awards Show will close out TxHSA’s weekend-long Homecoming celebration, which takes place June 20-22 and is packed with performances from past inductees, Grammy award nominees and recipients, and renowned songwriters and recording artists.

The Darrell K. Royal Songwriters’ Homecoming will take place the night before the ceremony, Saturday, June 21 at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. The performer lineup for this private VIP & sponsor only event has yet to be announced.
