The winter storm may be over but the devastating effects remain. Groups throughout the city are working day in and day out, providing help to those left struggling from the unprecedented weather. If you feel compelled to donate and have the means to do so, here is a list of places across the city accepting monetary donations as well as food, water, and supplies.
Texas Farmer Winter Storm Relief
Small, sustainable family farmers and ranchers in Texas urgently need your help! They have lost their crops, eggs have frozen, greenhouses have collapsed, and infrastructure destroyed. Now, they look toward rebuilding, but they can’t do it alone. They need your help today to get their farmers and businesses back on their feet so that they can get back to doing what they do best – supplying their communities with sustainable, local, and humanely raised food. SAFE Austin
If you’re in a position to help and still want to help SAFE, they have some very specific needs right now.
Food- Please drop these items off at the SAFE main warehouse at 1515 Grove Blvd. – 1 LB bags of rice and sugar, nonperishable items for meals, boxes of pasta and Hamburger Helper and similar foods.
Snacks- sealed and nonperishable, i.e. granola bars, bags of pretzels, dried fruit, dried Gatorade powder, etc.
Household Items- If you are interested in helping SAFE clients as they move out of shelter and into apartments of their own, you can shop for items from SAFE’S Amazon and Target registries, which ship directly to their donation warehouse.

Good Work Austin’s Community Kitchen
The GWA Community Kitchen is an ongoing project providing meal preparation services to organizations serving people in need of support with locally made food using locally grown ingredients, employing local workers and keeping dollars in the local economy. Your donation expands their capacity to produce meals.
Do Good ATX
Do Good ATX encourages philanthropy and provides basic needs to the community through Do Good ATX events. Their currently looking for donations of nonperishable food and baby food. If you’re interested in donating, message them on Instagram and say “Food Donation”.
Austin Habitat For Humanity
Homes are going to need repairs after the damage from the storm and Austin Habitat for Humanity’s Home Repair Program fills an important need for alleviating substandard living conditions for people who need critical repairs to live safely at home but cannot afford the repairs on their own.
Austin Area Urban League
The Austin Area Urban League continues its emergency donation drive for the housing of insecure communities of Austin, Texas. They launched the #LoveThyNeighborTX campaign with the support of other community-focused organizations committed to aiding in this emergency support. Together, with your help, they can provide shelter, food, water, clothing, and more this week!
Austin Mutual Aid
Austin Mutual Aid is providing emergency services for all residents of the Austin area – starting with the most vulnerable. They’ve been focusing on getting unhoused people off the streets and into hotels, providing cooked food, toiletries, clothing and other supplies, and locating the most vulnerable, the elderly, people with medical or special needs, and providing housing, food and supplies. Donate to their Kick The Cold fund here.
They have a main distribution hub downtown accepting donations – this is where many of their drivers pick up cooked food, toiletries, clothing and other supplies at 207 W 4th. Find a list of supplies they need here.
Austin Texas Musicians
Austin Texas Musicians is collecting donations to purchase water, food, and resources for those in need. For more information on donations, contact pat@austintexasmusicians.org.
ATX Free Fridge
ATX Free Fridge is a community fridge program that feeds the community through mutual aid. They have three fridges across Austin and are currently accepting monetary donations as well as anything from fresh produce, pre-prepared meals, canned goods, non perishable items, fruits and veggies.
Austin Pets Alive!
The people over at APA! worked around the clock to protect their animals from this unprecedented cold. They’re currently asking for – Airline crates (plastic, used or new), Non-clumping cat litter, Disposable foil pans to use as temp litter boxes, Canned cat food, Disposable small plastic bowls for water, Disposable paper food boats (example here), Plastic spoons, Paper towels, Pee pads, Gallon zip lock bags, Paper ID collars (example here), and Storage totes. Supplies should be left at their Town Lake shelter (1156 W Cesar Chavez) in front of the Building B gate.
Sustainable Food Center’s Farmer And Rancher Relief Fund
The winter storm has had devastating impacts on our local farmers and ranchers. Many farmers are facing a total loss of their end-of-season cold-weather crops, and their carefully laid plans for spring veggies are delayed even further. Your support now will provide direct relief for local farmers and ranchers – helping them recover from losses they’ve experienced during this massive winter event.
