One of Austin’s favorite events combines the best of the outdoors, running, food, giving back, and margaritas! It’s the Maudie’s Moonlight Margarita Run 5K, one of the most Austin-y of all of the Austin running events. It’s also only one of only four sanctioned races allowed to use the streets of Austin!

MMR, as we’ll call it for short, is happening for its 17th year on Thursday, June 4 at 8:00 PM, and all proceeds benefit The Trail Foundation. Title sponsor Maudie’s is a local Tex-Mex icon, famous for its margaritas as well as its food.

The Trail Foundation’s work is to protect, enhance, and connect the Butler Hike-and-Bike-Trail at Lady Bird Lake for the benefit of all. The Butler Trail is the 10-mile lush, urban trail in the heart of Austin on Lady Bird Lake that gets more than 4.4 million visits every year!

Tickets for MMR range from $45-$60 (depending on how early you buy them), and include an awesome run T-shirt, Maudie’s Tex-Mex margaritas and tiny tacos at the finish line party for all runners 21 or older, and race timing! Bonus: the money you spend is going towards the enhancement of Austin’s beloved trail. In a new twist this year, neon attire is encouraged!

MMR begins and ends at Seaholm Power Plant, with the run beginning along Walter Seaholm Drive and traveling along the streets surrounding Lady Bird Lake. At the finish line party, you’ll enjoy margaritas and tacos under the stars and lights of downtown Austin.

TTF is funded entirely by private donations, and this event contributes to its work in a major way, raising more than $100,000 to help ensure the Trail remains one of Austin’s greatest assets. Registration is open now at https://thetrailfoundation.org/maudies-moonlight-margarita-run and we look forward to seeing you at MMR!
