Eleven years ago today, I sat down at my laptop and made a resolution to write about a different thing to do in Austin each day—and 365 Things Austin was born. As we kick off 2021, I’m going all the way back to the beginning.

The first thing I ever wrote about was Mozart’s Coffee and it’s still one of my favorite places in the city. Mozart’s is local, dog friendly, and has delicious dessert and coffee. It also has gorgeous views of Lake Austin that make it an unforgettable.

The large patio is great for meeting friends, getting a little work done, or just staring at the scenery while you drink something tasty. Next time you’re looking to support a local coffee shop, think about this tried and true spot.

One of the most special things about Mozart’s is the annual Christmas Light Show, which is still going on through January 6th.

In her previous life, Kristy was an uninspired realtor who was feeling a little bit bored with her day to day. So on January 1, 2010, she made a New Year’s resolution to write about one thing to do each day in her beloved city of Austin, Texas. And thus, 365 Things Austin was born.
