Austin Happy Hour Guide
People always ask us, what is your favorite thing to talk about? Two words: Happy Hour. Happy Hour is where things happen; you build relationships and have engaging conversations without the noise of a late night bar scene. You have the ability to try multiple culinary creations and inexpensive beverages—all while still being in bed at a reasonable hour. Sounds like the perfect combination to us!
Austin Happy Hours are their own food group. Not lunch, not dinner—Happy Hour. Below you’ll find our guide to the best Happy Hour scenes in three of the buzziest neighborhoods: Downtown, The East Side, and The 04 (South). Be sure to tune into our Podcasts on these three areas.
Downtown Austin
We scoured the Downtown restaurant and bar scene to find the best of the best. This is not a guide to dirty 6th street, or even West 6th or Rainey. This is a specially curated list of hidden gems and local favorites with some of the best deals in town.
The East Side
East of the glorious I-35 highway is home to some of the best restaurants and bars Austin has to offer. It has a mix of grunge, hipster, and true Austin eclectic dining, which makes it the perfect area to experience the ATX culinary scene.
South Austin & the 78704 Zip Code
The “04”, as Austinites call it, is home to the iconic streets of South Congress (SoCo), South 1st, and South Lamar. Within the 78704 zip code of South Austin, this area is just south of Downtown and the Colorado River. It is known for holding deep Austin roots of everything the funky South Side has to offer. The 04 has some of the most expensive homes in well-known Travis Heights, Bouldin Creek, Zilker, and Barton Hills neighborhoods, which has cultivated tried and true Austin staples, as well as Michelin star producing culinary dreams. All of this combined, makes it one of our favorite places to HH.
